Safe monitors in the foyer

Safe monitor enclosures for fie protection at the SWR broadcaster

Since the summer of 2015, the 12 presentation monitors in the foyer of the SWR have been clad with PRIODIS monitor enclosures for fire protection in the escape route.

During recent years, extensive renovation and modernisation measures have been carried out in the Stuttgart location. Presentation screens were fined in the level 7 foyer in the main building of the Stuttgart location. These had to be enclosed or clad to the latest fire protection requirements.

The SWR opted for the “PRIODIS Basic” solution for the enclosure of the monitors. In total, 12 monitors were clad with the “PRIODIS Basic” fire protection system. The enclosure is made of non-combustible material, encloses the monitors completely and thus prevents fire and smoke from escaping. The front is fitted with safety glass. The surface of the PRIODIS enclosures was finished in basalt grey, similar to RAL 7012.

Eight screens fixed on a wall at a slant to the ceiling posed a particular challenge. In this case a steel construction was attached on site for each monitor. PRIODIS was fixed onto this construction with the screen. This therefore gives the impression that these screens float in front of the wall.

The state public service broadcaster Südwestrundfunk (SWR) was founded in 1998 by the merger of SDR and SWF and is the second largest broadcaster of the ARD public broadcasting company. The SWR maintains three main locations in Baden-Baden, Mainz and Stuttgart. The location in Stuttgart is the administrative headquarters. The SWR supplies the states of Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate and thus reaches approx. 15 million people. In addition to the television programme, the SWR also maintains radio programmes and an online offer.
