Monitors are electrical components which, if constructed in escape and emergency routes, pose a high risk potential. In the event of a defect, an emergency route can quickly be filled with smoke. According to German construction law, this is illegal!
In accordance with Section 14 MBO, “structural facilities have to be arranged, set up, changed and maintained so that the start of a fire and the spread of fire and smoke (…) is prevented (…)” And Section 40 adds: “In essential staircases (…) and in essential hallways, circuit systems [and appliances] are only permitted if use as an emergency route in the event of fire is possible for sufficiently long.”

The “PRIODIS Basic” monitor enclosure is the simplest and most cost-effective solution and meets the requirements of MBO §14, §40. “PRIODIS Basic” consists of non-combustible material (A2 – s1, d0), completely encloses the monitors and, in the event of a fire, prevents the escape of fire and smoke (suffocation fire) within 30 minutes and thus protects the escape route safely. Escape routes here are necessary corridors, necessary stairwells, rooms between necessary stairwells as well as exits to the outside.
The proof was provided by real fire tests with various fire accelerators in an accredited material testing institute (MPA Dresden) and confirmed by an expert opinion.
The monitor housing “PRIODIS 30″ meets the requirements of the MBO §14, §40 and additionally the requirements of the MLAR. PRIODIS 30” has a fire resistance of 30 minutes (fire-retardant), consists of non-combustible material (A2 – s1, d0) and contains a technical smoke detector controlled ventilation. “In the event of a fire, “PRIODIS 30” prevents fire and smoke from escaping within 30 minutes and thus protects the escape route safely. Escape routes here are necessary corridors, necessary stairwells, rooms between necessary stairwells and exits to the outside. The proof of the fire resistance and the smoke development incl. ventilation was led by a fire test over 30 minutes after ETK (uniform temperature curve) in an accredited material testing institute (MPA Dresden) and confirmed by a test report.
PRIODIS is a housing that completely encloses monitors. Non-flammable construction materials ensure that the monitors remain safely separated from escape and emergency routes, including including in the event of a fire. Seals on the embrasures and cable entry points guarantee that no smoke can escape. Test reports prove the suitability of the fire protection housings.
