Smoke displacement through excess pressure

In a pressure-differential type smoke control system (RDA), in the event of a fire, the ventilation system is started first, in order to introduce additional air into the stairwell. This produces controlled pressurisation (overpressure) in the stairwell . At the same time, the smoke control damper on the storey concerned opens automatically.

If individuals from the storey on which the fire has occurred flee to the firefighting stairs, the pressurisation becomes effective. It presses back the smoke fumes, which escape through the smoke control dampers and into the discharge shaft . This ensures that the firefighting stairs remain free from smoke and can be used safely at all times.

By contrast, in a “conventional” necessary staircase, the smoke fumes from the storey on which the fire has occurred flow into the staircase. This makes the staircase unpassable for persons who want to flee from higher storeys. Firefighting work is obstructed.

Advantage

Firefighting stairs with RDA remove the need for a second staircase. This means that more building space is available for use, e.g. as office or living space.

PRIORIT exit closure PRIODOOR ETX RDA has passed the fire test for smoke protection dampers in accordance with DIN EN 1366-10. Thus smoke protection pressure systems can now be designed with almost any exit surface area size without disturbing the overall appearance of corridors and galleries. For all PRIODOOR ETX RDA exit closures are manufactured with decorative surfaces from material classified as non-combustible. In case of fire they automatically open into the discharge ventilation shaft.

The new feature of the PRIORIT smoke exit closures are the big exit surface areas, which can be very cost-effectively and appealingly integrated into buildings. Thanks to the flush construction even nearly invisible exit closures can be successfully implemented.

The exit closures are suitable for smoke protection pressure systems according to DIN EN 12101 as they are used in internal safety stairwells. During regular operation, the covers are closed flush in the block frame and ensure a tight seal. Only in case of fire and exhaust opening opens on the floor with the fire for discharging hazardous fire gases. It is operated by a smoke protection pressure system. The installation minimizes the spread of smoke in areas and floors with fire and increases the safety in the building.

Exit closures can be installed in existing ducts or by using the PRIOWALL wall system. Thus, even entire ducts with side walls and top panels can be produced in a uniform design.

PRIODOOR ETX RDA – Smoke damper, vertical

Large-size, single-vent, fire resistant, specially designed for installation in RDA outlet ducts (RDA = Fire protection pressure systems). When a fire occurs, the exhaust damper is automatically opened by the control unit of the RDA supplied by the customer. Large-size cross sections offer a free unhindered outlet surface area for combustion gases. The closure is smoke-proof and offers fire resistance for up to 90 minutes.

Installation in PRIOWALL and solid walls possible

Large format, single leaf, fire resistant smoke control damper especially designed for installation in air release shafts of RDA (RDA = Smoke protection pressure systems). In case of fire the smoke control damper is opened automatically by the controls of the on-site RDA. Large-format cross-sections provide a clear, unobstructed air release area for fire gases. The closure is smoke-tight and provides fire resistance for 90 minutes.
