PRIORIT – a successful market player for 22 years

In 2020, the Hanau company delivering innovative structural fire protection solutions celebrated its 20-year anniversary. PRIORIT offers everything from a single source, from development and consulting to production, sales, and installation. Its range of services includes products for structural protection of escape and rescue routes as well as solutions for tunnel construction and protection for IT systems, and even storage of hazardous materials.

Based on building materials classified as non-combustible, PRIORIT manufactures fire-resistant components with decorative surfaces, offering the capability to harmonize safety and design aspects.

The company’s force of innovation is clear in its numerous patents, protected rights, and building approvals issued domestically and abroad. Since its founding in 2000, the QM-certified company from Hanau has developed into a major player in the industry with over 150 employees.

In 2000, the year it was founded, the company began with just three employees and developed the first fire protection housing, which fulfilled all of the requirements of the Model Building Regulation (MBO) and the Model line system directive (enacted March 2000), which was brand new at the time. In the years that followed, its ongoing development work came together to form a 20-year all-around success story:

  • 2000

Development of fire protection housings according to the requirements of the Model line system directive (enacted March 2000) for fire load damping and maintaining the function of electrical systems.

  • 2001

In 2001, patented inspection opening closures are developed for simple retrofitting on the wall (facing door). A safe partition is available for the fire hazard posed by electrical installations.

    2001

  • 2002

In 2002, the company expands its product range with inspection opening closures and develops a partition wall system to separate and form fire-resistant (fire-retardant / fireproof) areas.

  • 2003

In 2003, PRIORIT is the first safety company to receive a general certificate of usability under building law for both fire protection housings and for facing doors and partition wall systems.

The biggest innovation in 2003 is the development of a high-security computing centre tested in accordance with EN 1047-2 that not only fulfils the specifications of the EN standard but is well below them both in terms of the permitted temperature increase and the maximum relative humidity.

    2003

  • 2004

Directly thereafter, the company receives ECBS certification in 2004 for the high-security computing centre HSRZ. Certification in accordance with ECB-S and the test completed according to EN 60529 ensure a comprehensive safety solution for users.

  • 2005

In 2005, another partition wall system, the “door on door” was developed. This allows for almost complete inspection of the area behind it.

In addition, PRIODEK H was created in 2005 as a new panel material with A2 classification in accordance with DIN 4102, including a wide range of decorative surfaces.

    2005

  • 2006

In 2006, another partition wall system, the “door on door” was developed. This allows for almost complete inspection of the area behind it.

In addition, PRIODEK H was created in 2006 as a new panel material with A2 classification in accordance with DIN 4102, including a wide range of decorative surfaces.

  • 2007

In 2007, the decorative fire protection panel PRIODEK H receives a European classification of A2 – s1, d0 in accordance with EN 13501-1 for veneers, decorative and painted surfaces. Use of the newly developed building material revolutionises product development. A new generation of fire-resistant and non-combustible fire protection products is created.

    2007

  • 2008

In 2008, PRIOCOPY – a fire-resistant copier housing – is presented and makes it possible to set up and use printers and copiers and store consumable materials in escape routes.

Another innovation in 2008 is the PRIOFEST, the first battery-operated hold-open device approved by the DIBt.

  • 2009

In 2009, new design standards are set in structural fire protection with the further development of the modular, visually high-quality wall and room construction system and the awarding of a design prize for PRIODEK H veneers.

Single-layer elements with a low thickness of just 42mm allow for “streamlined fire protection” – the basis for the 42 modular fire protection system.

    2009

  • 2010

In 2010, “PRIODOOR” fire protection closures follow – doors with added design freedom are another component of the 42 modular fire protection system.

  • 2011

The 42 modular fire protection system is expanded in 2011 – the wall and door elements of the 42 system allow for fire-resistant modular construction in any width and in a height of up to 4 m. The construction of custom planned partitions and rooms opens up all new possibilities for structural fire protection.

    2011

  • 2012

A large-format smoke damper follows in 2012 as another element of the 42 modular fire protection system; it not only offers a particularly large clear outflow area but can also be delivered with many different decorative surfaces.

  • 2013

In 2013, PRIORIT offers a fire-resistant built-in wall housing for wall-mounted hydrants for the first time. Wall-mounted hydrants, tapping points and feed devices can quickly and easily be placed directly in the wall with PRIOHYD, without further bulkheads.

    2013

  • 2014

In 2014, the motor housing PRIODIS – available in two versions – is launched on the market as another innovative product. It allows the fire loads of the screens to be separated safely from escape routes.

  • 2015

Modern and environmentally-friendly: in early 2015, PRIORIT receives LEED and DGNB declarations for certification systems in green building for 15 products and product groups.

The specialised sustainability requirements of the two-certification systems LEED and DGNB cover the entire life cycle of a building and the materials used to construct it. With its product portfolio, PRIORIT supports developers and operators in their green building projects.

    2015

  • 2016

A mobile high-security computing centre in a container is added to the IT security product portfolio.

  • 2017

A specially developed simulation stand can be used to document the maintained function of electrical systems – without the use of real fire, and therefore without requiring destructive testing – for 30 minutes.

This significantly reduces costs compared to a real fire chamber test.

    2017

  • 2018

To make planning the system 42, with all of the currently available components and surface designs, even more user-friendly, a specialised planning tool is developed and made available online.

  • 2019

PRIOCOVER – a mobile fire protection cover for lithium-ion batteries – is launched on the market in 2019 as a simple, pressure-stable sheath housing for comprehensive fire protection. PRIOPACK, a storage container for defective batteries are added to the product portfolio for Li-ion storage/protection concepts.

    2019

  • 2020

PRIORIT AG celebrates its 20-year anniversary as a company this year.

In 2000, the year it was founded, the company began with just three employees and developed the first fire protection housing, which fulfilled all of the requirements of the Model Building Regulation (MBO) and the Model line system directive (MLAR, enacted March 2000), which was brand new at the time.

Today, PRIORIT celebrates 20 years of success, and stands for innovative structural fire protection solutions. Its product portfolio ranges from solutions for structural protection of escape and rescue routes to fire protection solutions for tunnel construction and protection for IT systems, and even storage of hazardous materials.

  • 2021

The newly developed PRIODOOR RTH fulfils all requirements of the Model high rise directive for inspection opening closures!

According to this directive and other requirements often applied to fire protection concepts, PRIORIT AG Hanau has developed an inspection opening closure for installation shafts that not only fulfils building law and high-rise directive requirements, but that can also pass a fire test from the inside or outside.

    2021

  • 2022

PRIORIT is presenting a product version with an optional one-piece frame, thereby taking a further step towards visual minimisation.

With the new development of a “one-piece frame”, inspection opening closures for installation shafts with a fire resistance of over 30 or 90 minutes can be designed with a one-piece frame that is only 43 mm narrow and has no joints.

The fire protection products are produced exclusively in Germany. Today, 7,800 m² of production and storage space are available at the plant in Osterburg, which is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery. Production is monitored in accordance with building law requirements to ensure the company’s quality standards.

Often, new developments are trend-setting within the fire protection industry. With a large number of patents, over 300 fire tests, and over 100 approvals both nationally and internationally, the company from Hanau has consistently expanded its role as a leader over the last 20 years.
