Fire protection in high-rise residential buildings

A fire served as the spark for an extensive renovation project

In December of 2017, a fire broke out on the third floor of the 10-story apartment complex, then spread upward throughout the entire building. The entire complex did not need to be torn down as originally feared, but instead underwent an extensive renovation.

The building technology and installations were replaced to conform with current state of the art technology. This included separating the electrical installations on all floors of the stairwell.

The PRIOWALL wall system was used as a fire-resistant bulkhead to seal off the multi-storey installation shafts from the escape route. The integrated, large-format inspection opening closures offer optimal access both for inspection work and retrofitting in the shafts.

Structural fire protection solution in combination with diverse colour design options – what would be a special project for other solution providers is a matter of course for PRIORIT. Architects and developers took advantage of this option to choose a RAL shade of green to match the colour scheme. This shade is used in a wide variety of different points inside and outside of the building.

PRIOWALL

Single-layer, fire-resistant wall system with various surfaces for the formation of interior partitions for room closures, fire areas, etc. The PRIOWALL wall system consists of coated non-flammable wall panels of 42 mm in thickness, which can be easily and neatly constructed, converted and expanded using various joining technologies.
PRIOWALL is a component of the „System 42“ modular fire protection system and is suited for the installation of PRIORIT system components such as fire-protection closures, inspection opening closures, smoke-extraction flaps, fire dampers and bulkheads or ventilation elements.
